Tokyo, 11 June 2008 - Indian artist N.S. Harsha, winner of this year Arte Mundis prize, invites Mrs. Sumitra Nath to make the Jangir sweets that he would mould to present his new show "Leftovers" at Maison Hermés in Ginza. The exhibit is largely inspired from the fake food displayed in most of Tokyo's restaurants, which Harsha noticed in a previous trip to Japan. It took about 3 months to the Japanese workshops to create all the food. Sumitra was intrumental in creating the real Jangir in several difference shapes and sizes. The craftsmen from the Japanese workshops then created the prastic moulds from them.

For almost 10 years, N. S. Harsha (b. 1969) has exhibited works in various countries, including India, England, France, the United States and Japan, to name a few, with a focus on the relationship between humans and food. One of his main interests is the way people eat curry meals prepared on banana leaves, a characteristic dish from southern India, where the artist was born. The way that curry and rice are typically placed on the leaves with garnishings on the side is almost identical, but what remains after the meal is different from leaf to leaf, as if they reflect the personalities of each eater. The result is pretty realistic. Sumitra is a staunch believer that cooking is an art, more importantly, one that emanates from the heart, Sumitra Nath loves cooking and have cooked recipes which are tried and tested. For her cooking is not a chore, not a hobby but an obsession - a passion. She has under her umbrella more than 350+ original recipes, cooked and tasted by her fans in India, Japan.
